Military Greeting Cards Are a Great Addition to Care Packages

Sending a care package is a great way to let troops know you’re thinking about them, no matter how far away they are.  Whether you want to include a letter, book or their favorite packaged snack, the little things that remind them of home can make a big difference. You can also include military greeting cards in your care package to add a special touch. Best of all, you can conveniently buy the greeting cards online and have them sent right to your home to add to the package. Choose from categories like Boot Camp, Miss You and Thank You, and add your own photo and message to make it extra-personal!

Here are some more great tips for sending a care package:

•    Send packages well in advance of holidays and special occasions, especially during Christmas. Some online greeting card shops give you the option to import birthdays from Facebook and set up reminders so you can have cards sent to you periodically for all your care packages.

•    Ask your deployed loved one what he or she wants or needs. Troops may want certain foods from home, a movie that reminds them of happy times or something to share with their friends.

•    Include multiple letters and/or cards in your package so your troop has several sentimental messages to read until the next package arrives. Packages may take anywhere from days to weeks to arrive, so sending several letters will keep the troops spirits high until the next package arrives.

•    When including cards or letters, avoid sad messages. Instead, send words of inspiration, joy and love.

•    For extra fun, create a themed care package such as “holidays” “hobbies,” or “love.” When sending a love-themed parcel, for instance, you could fill the box with love letters, photos of the two of you, or a video telling your honey how much you love him or her. For a holiday-themed package such as Christmas, you could include a non-fragile ornament, a seasonal movie and candy.
